4 (plus one) Calling Birds

The other night we were watching TV and heard a lot of bird noises coming from outside. It was still light out, but since when are birds going crazy at 8pm? Next we see a bald eagle fly by and think ‘maybe he’s getting bugged by crows’ which is something you see a lot, so we went out to check it out. Turns out this bald eagle was not getting bugged by crows, but instead we initially see two bald eagles in two different trees screaming at each other. Eventually they get out of their trees, and start flying around clawing/biting at each other. Within a few minutes three more show up, and they take turns flying around fighting each other and sitting in the tall trees yelling at the top of their lungs. I think the most bald eagles I have ever seen together was 3 we saw in Montana in April. But apparently 5 felt the territory around our house was worth fighting over, but maybe not, because we haven’t seen them again. Either way, it was pretty awesome.

Maybe we live on a wildlife preserve, because this morning I was watching this brown thing in the water, trying to determine if it was a log or beaver or otter or whatever, when it suddenly went under water and didn’t come back up. Anyway, the wildlife plus Napoleon the giant black dog who drools everywhere who comes to our door all the time makes for some good times with animals around here.

Found: $500

Today I was pretty sad because I could not find my favorite pen. Then I remembered I had put it in the cool pen pouch thing from Ecuador. Turns out the pen is forever gone, but maybe I can buy a new one with the $500 I put in the pen pouch to keep it safe when coming home from Ecuador.

And I thought finding a dollar in my pocket was awesome.

Happy Happy Birthday Aaron Dear

Saturday was Aaron’s birthday. He got older this year, but says he’s holding from now on. All of my parents got him way cooler things than I did, but without me there would be no my parents, so it’s like I helped get them. He is the proud owner of an awesome BBQ tools set with really cool skewer things, and soon to be the proud owner of a fire pit for our yard. I think it’s fair to say that those beat the things I got him: Night at the Museum, a long-sleeve shirt I took from him almost a year ago because I hated it, some charcoal paper/pencils art stuffs. I also had a mini-bbq party and took him to Indiana Jones, and he didn’t ultimately hate it, so I think that was pretty good too. Anyway, I’m rambling, but happy birthday to my great wonderful husband.

P.S. The couch he picked out came on his birthday, and it is an awesome amazing couch. I will pretend I got it for him.

Post 100: Seeing Blue

Aaron totally one-upped me and posted right after me disclosing the gender of our baby. And since he hardly writes on this blog, he doesn’t get the glory of announcing after me but being on top. So, we are having a BOY. There, I said it first and last.

Also this is our 100th post, I feel so old in the blogisphere.

P.S. I got our baby these shorts a month ago, assuming it would be a boy, and I was right. Aaron was real happy to get them as a “you were right/congrats it’s a boy” gift. I think my dad will probably be jealous they don’t make these in his size.

His name is Harmon

I just want you all to know that I was right. I had my first and only doubt walking down the stairs to the appointment today. Kelsey’s dad said he knew it too. It came as a revelation to him last night. I guess he realized that we weren’t going to name our daughter Bonanza.

The ultrasound guy was pretty cool and he thought it was a girl at first. Because he said the baby had a well developed brain. I argued it was more likely a boy because of the thick skull.

It’s a…

Alien Baby! At least that’s what Aaron finally conceded.

But seriously, it’s a boy. :)

Pictures coming soon.

Fat Belly

It’s true I have been neglectful in showing any photos of my growing waistline, but the main reason for that is that I am the most unphotogenic person alive. I mostly get mad at Aaron for taking ugly pictures of me, but I know it’s not his fault really. So, here I give you Kelsey’s fat belly at 19 weeks.

This one is totally good because you can’t see my face. Classy sillohette.

This one I had to argue with myself about putting in here, because it’s pretty horrifying, but I decided it was funny enough to do it. This is me after Aaron told me it just looked fat, not like a baby. I probably beat him right after this picture.

Impatiently Waiting

So, our appointment with the midwife is at 4, and the ultrasound guy is coming at 430. I managed to plan my day so I would have lots of really great stuff to do, but now I’m out of stuff, so I’m pretty anxious. I rejoiced going back to water aerobics this morning, the ladies were totally jealous of my awesome stylish aqua socks (thanks mom). Then I treated myself to Baby Mama which I had been intending to see for a while (before the beloved jury duty) because Aaron said it would be a good movie to see with a friend. So I saw it with myself, because I’m a good friend. Also, Aaron wouldn’t have hated it like he thought. And then I visited Justin at work, and should plug Lucky Strike bowling alley as a really cool looking place.

And now I’m home. In about an hour and fifteen minutes I can go pick up Aaron. And then I can drive to the midwife’s office. And then I can chat impatiently with the midwife until 430. Really today has been the only hard waiting day, but Aaron says he couldn’t sleep because he was thinking about it forever. Silly us. Oh, and also if you are reading this and it’s before 430, you can totally still vote, because I like sending prizes. But vote on the other post, not this one.

Oops

I guess I have a lot to say today, because it’s been a while. Oops number one: Last week it was determined that Aaron had lost his driver’s license. Normally I am really good at finding things, but told him I had a feeling it was gone. We had been filling out boat loan applications, apartment rental forms, etc, and it could have gotten lost in a pile of papers and thrown away. But who knows, maybe it’s still in a box somewhere. At any rate, yesterday he got a new one, but I was still sad because his old picture was probably the best driver’s license photo ever. If we find it again I will surely post it.

Oops number two was on Monday when Aaron felt in order to wash his hands effectively he really should just get in the lake. A couple minutes later he realized that his wedding ring had decided to stay in the water. The good news is I had bought him an inexpensive ring because I thought he would probably scratch it up a lot (which he did) so it wasn’t too much of a loss. Plus Jake and AJ told us how we can get another great ring on ebay for only $6.99. I will probably get a few spares, just in case. But don’t tell Aaron.

Oops number three is allegedly my fault. Yesterday Aaron planted some tomato plants he bought from a guy at work, and was sad he got his favorite pants all dirty. He scrubbed the knees and I threw them immediately into the wash. Later when wondering if the stains had come out I pulled them out of the dryer (still wet) and lo and behold what is in his pocket? His passport he had taken to work to get his new driver’s license. Note to self: always check pockets. Always always always always.

An Important Bet

I am too lazy to find a poll to put on my page, so here is a really important question since we will be finding out this coming Wednesday the 28th at 4:30pm. Not that we are counting or anything.

Question:
What gender is our baby?

Prize:
If you get it right I will actively send you something cool. For serious, I will. Only one guess though.

You have to answer by Wednesday at say, noon, to win. Wow, that’s fun, lots of people can win. I sure like games like that.
