Predicting Favorites

People, I have a problem. My favorite sweatpants need to be retired. I have had them for at least 4 years. They are like a best friend. I am kind of feeling traumatized.

What? Just go buy new ones you say? Oh, like it’s that simple. Did I mention the fact that I purchased them 4+ years ago? Guess what, they don’t make them anymore. They make some similar styles, but nothing identical. If only I would have known, I would have stocked up.

Which brings me to my next point. How could I have known they were going to be my favorite? How can you know anything will be your favorite until you have them for a while? What if I bought several pairs just to be safe and ended up hating them? Or, what if I bought several pairs and STILL HAD THEM? Oh man, how awesome would that be?!? (Don’t judge me just because I spend my time thinking about sweats!)

So what do I do now? I have gotten over the fact that the sweats are gone, and I will never find their likeness. But just the other day I came across some PJ pants that I really liked. So comfy, a good weight, not hideous looking, and pretty cheap. Do I buy another pair? Will I only like them and not love them? What do I do?

Oh the tough decisions that rule my life…

Rob has a favorite blue t-shirt that he has probably worn twice a week since 2003. He bought it used at a truck stop for $1. It is very worn out. So I got busy on the internet to find a replacement. It took a long time and the site I bought it from was shady, but I found it.

He never wears the new one. It isn't worn out in all the right places and super soft from being washed one million times. The old one has actual holes in it now. It still gets worn.

Favorites are hard to come by.

Change is hard, and good things can never be replaced, so it's time to find a new favorite. I say, buy 2 pairs, but not more than that. Then when those are worn out, find NEW favorites. :-)

Wait… it's not totally hopeless. Seriously, go to the thrift store. You just might find those same pants in better shape. I kid you not. Good luck.
