My Birthday 2009

The day after my birthday is not my birthday everyone.

Also, Aaron made me the BEST cake ever. It was chocolate. From scratch. With chocolate frosting. From scratch. With blackberry syrup/topping. Of course, from scratch. It is better than my favorites from Maggiano’s and Outback. I hope he is ready to make it a lot more times.

Also, a letter to Howie Day:

Dear Howie,

We went to the Mountain’s Acoustic Music Fest pretty much to see you. You were wonderful. But next time you should really play more. No matter how long they tell you to play. Play longer. Also, always play acoustic, and never bring a band. Just like tonight. My advice is sound. Trust me.

Thanks,
Kelsey

PS You could just make Ingrid Michaelson stop talking, that would give you at least 30 extra minutes.

PPS Aaron really wanted you to play Bunnies.

Kelsey is getting old

This morning, Kelsey’s mom called her to wish her a happy birthday. Kelsey replied, “Are you tired from working all night giving birth to me (she paused) twenty eight years ago?”

I interjected “Twenty seven! You’re only twenty seven years old, no more (and no less).” She must be getting old if she can’t remember how old she is.

Happy birthday Kelsey!

Sometimes Traffic is Ok.

Both of these happened within two minutes of each other:

Dear lady driving purple car with purple steering wheel cover,

Nice choice. It was the only way to make your car even more silly.

Thanks for making me laugh,
Kelsey

——————–

Dear guy driving with live parrot on his arm,

This is the best thing I have EVER seen while driving. I am so glad Aaron found you, and that traffic made us meet up again so I could see you.

Wondering where were you going anyway,
Kelsey

True Love 2

11:14pm: I am awake in bed, like always. Aaron is trying to go to sleep, but it’s hard with me chattering on incessantly. I am starving like always and suddenly decide that scrambled eggs would be delicious but of course am not going to get out of bed to make them. Then wonderful (real sleepy) husband goes to the kitchen and makes them. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.

How to be a Good Parent

1. Feed your child cottage cheese that is of a questionable date. Smell it first, and when it smells fine go ahead. Halfway through said snack take a bite yourself to realize that it actually taste like poison. Make husband taste to confirm. Dump out and feed screaming child more timely cottage cheese.

2. After your child is full of good and bad cottage cheese put him on the floor to use his newly found crawling skills. Take away the plastic bag he is trying to eat by picking him up. When picking him up find half a moth and realize your child ate the other half.

3. Apply for parent of the year.

The Greatest Self-Control.

I admittedly have a problem with Oreos, but I should confess to also having the same problem with brownies. Of late my inside baby has been making me wake up starving in the middle of the night. Sometimes I can ignore it and sometimes I have to get up and eat something, usually whatever is closest/easiest like a glass of milk or granola bar. Almost always I am angry because I am so tired and going to the kitchen seems like such a chore, and on top of that, beyond too tired to brush my teeth again so the next time I wake up my mouth tastes like sick nasty.

But I’m getting away from the point of this post. Last night I made brownies. I told Aaron that I would not be eating any in the night. I don’t think he believed me, but I managed to withstand their awesome powers and didn’t eat even a crumb. To celebrate this feat of self-control I had brownies for breakfast. And maybe mid-morning snack too.

Best Way To Read Blogs?

So, I have a lot of blogs I like to read. But not as much time as I want to spend hours clicking to see which are updated. Actually, I don’t like clicking to see if they are updated. But I do like going to the actual sites. So, opinions on what you’ve done that you like? I am thinking of starting out with google reader because it seems idiot-proof, but that eliminates the going to the site part. I can’t seem to find (in the 5 minutes of research I did) anywhere that is currently functioning that will just send me an email when the sites are updated. So, help? Ideas?

True Love

When we got back on Wednesday night to our house/sauna it was 120 degrees inside with no breeze. It was time for nino to go to bed, so we decided he got the only fan we own in his room. When it was time for us to go to bed, the house had maybe cooled down 10 degrees. But we love him so much we let him have the fan all night. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is. Except maybe it was selfishness because if he didn’t sleep neither did we. I’m just gonna go with love.
